July 14th - July 17th Weekend Events

Happy Thursday everyone! Now, where is the sunshine?!!?

There is a ton of excellent events happening this weekend. Check out below for a fun filled weekend!


Tour de White Rock


Join us on the streets of White rock as some of the world's best cyclists roll into town (literally!) for this weekend's Tour de White Rock.

FRIDAY, JULY 15 SCHEDULE: HOMELIFE REALTY HILL CLIMB (Starts @ Buena Vista and Oxford)
-This is a brand new addition to this years race where amateurs are given the chance to show what they're made of. The Just Giver Amateur Hill Climb is set for 5:30 p.m. Friday (just before the pros compete in the hill climb) and offers amateurs a shot at tackling the same grueling, 700-metre hill on Buena Vista Avenue. The Just Giver Amateur Hill Climb is a cycling club of about 40 members raising awareness for Parkinson's disease. Come out and support an excellent cause!

4:50 pm - Buena Vista closed
5:30 pm - START - Amatur Hill Climb
6:30 pm - FINISH - Amateur Hill Climb
7:00 pm - Women's Race
7:20 pm - Women's Final
7:30 pm - START - Men's Race (PRO 1 & 2)
8:30 pm - Men's Final
8:35 pm - Race finishes
8:40 pm - Men's awards presentations at Crest
9:30 pm - Buena Vista re-opens

SATURDAY, JULY 16 : CHOICES MARKET CRITERIUM (START/FINISH: JOHNSTON RD. AT PROSPECT AVE.)
-Enjoy live entertainment by local buskers, shop the street vendors and bring the kids to the White Rock Dental Teddy Bear Picnic at White Rock Elementary. Lot's of fun for the whole family!

6:00 am - Road closes from Johnston & Roper to Fir & Pacific
10:00 am - Five Corners Street Party begins
(Children's Bike Parade @ 2 pm - 3:30 pm)
3:00 pm - Full road closure for Criterium routes
4:00 pm - START- Men's Race
4:45 pm - Finish of Men's 3/4 Race
5:00 pm - START - Women's Criterium
5:45 pm - Finish - Women's race
6:00 pm - START - Pro Men's Criterium
7:15 pm - Finish - Men's Criterium Race
7:45 pm - Roads re-open (except from Johnston & Roper to Fir & Pacific)
8:15 pm - All roads re-open (approx.)

SUNDAY, JULY 17 : PEACE ARCH NEWS ROAD RACE (START/FINISH: MARINE DRIVE AT THE PIER)
-Meet at Johnston & Prospect (main stage) to decorate your bike before cycling around the Criterium race route at 5 corners.

8:00 am - Race route, limited access
9:00 am - START - Men's Road Race
9:05 am - START - Women's Road Race
11:30 pm - Approx finish to Women's Road Race
11:45 pm - Approx finish time of Men's race shortened at Vidal
12:30 pm - Approx finish of Men's Road Race, presentations at the stage immediately following
1:30 pm - All roads re-open

****Remember, there will be road closures on:
Friday, July 15 : 5 - 930 p.m.
-Buena Vista from Oxford to Johnston
Saturday, July 16 : 6 a.m. - 9 p.m.
-Johnston and Pacific, Fir and Roper closed to traffic
3 - 9 p.m.

Sunday, July 17: 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
-The following streets will have limited access: Marine Dr., Blackburn Ave., Archibald St., Columbia Ave., Malabar Ave., Bishop Rd., Vidal St., Parker St., Nichol Rd., Magdalen Ave., Victoria Ave., Bergstrom Rd., Kerfoot St., Magdalen Crescent.

There will be a free shuttle that will pick up from Centennial Arena on Sunday July 17th to bring you down to the beach to watch the Peace Arch News Road Race.

SUMMER MUSIC
IN THE PARK - BY THE SEA



The Semiahmoo First Nations present the Spirit Stage concert on Marine Drive at East Beach. Special Performances by Mojo Zydeco, Jason Mitchell, Token Rhyme and Ben Rogers plus surprises and special guests! This event is put on THIS SATURDAY, July 16th, 3pm until 8:30 pm.
2011 SURREY FUSION FESTIVAL
